Comparison
Some say that outright ownership is the ultimate for luxury travel possessions; we disagree and consider that the benefits of are only accrued during usage. However, for those with high usage (say over 200 flying hours per year, or over 7 sailing weeks per year) then ownership can be cost effective, but it still doesn't provide the flexibility afforded by Elements membership.
Typical compromises with outright ownership are:
- Equipment suitability: A single type of asset cannot fulfil all requirements. Consider the selection of an aircraft. You have to compromise between range, capacity and airfield performance. Too small an aircraft will not take enough people and luggage far enough, but a large jet will not be able to use all airfields and will be very inefficient for shorter journeys.
- Equipment availability: A single asset can only be in one place at a time, which may not be where you need it. Furthermore, the time taken to move it between locations could be significant.
